Beginner's Program – Dog Grooming Assistant (10 Days)
Objective: To build foundational grooming knowledge, safety handling, and support skills for aspiring groomers. By the end of this 2-week course, students will be able to assist a groomer in a salon setting and confidently handle essential grooming prep tasks.
Day 1: Orientation, Safety, Animal Psychology, Breeds, Proper techniques
Day 2: Health & Wellness Essentials, Ailments recognition, skin & coat, Animal Anatomy
Day 3: Understanding Grooming Tools & Equipment, Choosing the right products for clients, Maintenance, Sanitization, Proper usage of tools & equipment
Day 4: Grooming Prep Work - Nail Trimming, Paw Pad Clipping, Sanitary Trims, Ear Cleaning
Day 5: Brushing, Dematting, De-shedding and Handstripping Techniques
Day 6: Proper Bathing techniques, Proper Drying Technniques
Day 7-9: Prep-work to Bath to Dry Full Practice
Day 10: Review & Final Practical
Cost: $1500 + HST
Junior Groomer Program – 2 Weeks
Objective: To develop intermediate grooming skills with an emphasis on natural coat care—specifically handstripping, plucking, and deshedding techniques across different coat types and breeds.
Day 1: Introduction to Handstripping - hair types, tools, techniques, breed-specific applications
Day 2: Hands-on breed-specific handstripping on Terriers.
Day 3: Hands-on breed-specific handstripping on Spaniels.
Day 4: Hands-on breed-specific handstripping on Natural-Coated breeds.
Day 5: Handstripping Assessment Exam
Day 6: Introduction to Deshedding - hair types, tools, techniques, breed-specific applications
Day 7: Hands-on breed-specific deshedding on short-haired breeds.
Day 8: Hands-on breed-specific deshedding on long-haired breeds.
Day 9: Hands-on breed-specific deshedding on double-coated breeds.
Day 10: Deshedding Assessment Exam
Cost: $2500 + HST
Beginner’s Program or equivalent professional salon experience is required as a pre-requisite to qualify for this Junior Groomer Program.
Professional Groomer Program (Part 1)– 2 Weeks
Objective: Focus on grooming curly-coated breeds (Bichons, Poodles, Doodles, etc.) and developing strong clipper control, breed-specific shaping, and styling techniques tailored to curly coats.
Day 1: Introduction to Curly Coat Types/Breeds, Anatomy, Structure, etc.
Day 2-4: Breed Structure & Lines (anatomy & common patterns) - Doodles or Poodle Mixes
Day 4-6: Breed Structure & Lines (anatomy, Poodle feet, Face, Shapes & common patterns) - Poodles
Day 6-8: Breed Structure & Lines (anatomy & common patterns) - Bichons
Day 9: Refinement Techniques and hands-on practice on various breeds.
Day 10: Review & Final Assessment
Beginner’s Program AND Junior Groomer Program or equivalent professional salon experience (MUST be assessed) is required as a pre-requisite to qualify for this Junior Groomer Program.

Professional Groomer Program (Part 2) – 2 Weeks
Objective: Develop proficiency in grooming straight and silky/wavy coated breeds such as Yorkies, Maltese, Shih Tzus, Morkies, and similar companion breeds with flowing coats.
Day 1: Introduction to Curly Coat Types/Breeds, Anatomy, Structure, etc.
Day 2-4: Breed Structure & Lines (anatomy & common patterns) - Yorkies, Morkies, Yorkie Mixes, etc.
Day 3-5: Breed Structure & Lines (anatomy & common patterns) - Malteses, Maltipoos, Maltese Mixes, etc.
Day 6-8: Breed Structure & Lines (anatomy & common patterns) - Shihtzus, Shihtzu Mixes, Pekingnese, Pek Mixes, etc.
Day 9: Refinement Techniques and hands-on practice on various breeds.
Day 10: Review & Final Assessment

Beginner’s Program AND Junior Groomer Program or equivalent professional salon experience (MUST be assessed). Professional Groomer Program (Part 1) is mandatory as a pre-requisite to qualify for this program.
Professional Groomer Program (Part 3)– 2 Weeks
Objective: This capstone training program focuses on perfecting finish work, handscissoring, and handling advanced breed patterns. Students refine their skills across any coat type and breed.
Day 1: Review of major coat categories, Grooming Strategies, Techniques for various Coat/Temperaments
Day 2: Advanced Clipping, Lines/Shapes/Contours, Angulations, Patterns
Day 3: Handscissoring & Thinning Techniques
Day 4: Refining Head & Tail Styles
Day 5-7: Practical hands-on full groom with skills refined.
Day 8: Grooming a Challenging Coat, temperament, aged or sick animals
Day 9: Mock Salon Day
Day 10: Review & Final Assessment

PPI Registration
Keep in mind training dates will book up very quickly. It is wise to plan at least several months in advance. This will provide the additional benefit of allowing time to prepare prior to attending your PPI.

Payment plans are available. A deposit of 50% and completed registration form is required to book dates. Balance is due 1 week prior to first day of training. PPI fees are non-refundable, dates may be transferred with minimum 1 week’s notice.
